This year alone I have done hair and makeup on some wonderful productions. The first in 2012 was Big River where I had to figure out how to and then tar and feather an actor in a page and a half of script. If you haven't done theatre, let me tell you, that is not very much time. I tried corn syrup and chocolate first, thinking I need it to be sticky so the feathers would stay on. It just ran. Adding cornstarch didn't help. So, next I tried black body paint. Silly me, it worked. So, for the run of the show as the actor stripped out of his costume down to his longjohns I had a sponge and painted all the exposed skin I could find, and occasionally an eyeball (he was the one moving, not me). A few contacts (his, not mine) were destroyed in the process. And while I was doing this, a young cast member stood by with a bowl of white fathers that I practically threw on the wet paint in time for him to crawl out on the stage. I was never able to see what it looked like from the audience, but I have decided it was awesome :).

I was supposed to take a break until May but while at the Spring Fling in Chicago I received a text message that the production of Chicago needed someone on hair and makeup. The person they had came down with appencitis and if rumor is correct, found out she was pregnant at the same time. I walked in five days before opening and got to work. It was fun. I think it is because I didn't have time to worry about anything and just get the job done. My favorite character to makeup was Mary Sunshine. By the time I was done with him, he was beautiful. Okay, maybe not beautiful but he has the perfect lips for lipstick. So unfair I tell you!

The next scheduled show, more of a hair show, was Hello Dolly and after that, I went to work on Hairpray. This was a cast of 109 (that is not a typo). I had five people working constantly to bring that 1962 look to the stage. Again, my favorite person to make pretty was Edna. I am beginning to see a theme. I did the makeup for a guy in Hello Dolly who went out as the Statue of Liberty in the parade scene. Hmmmm. The only downside to Hairspray was it was in the Tent = outside in 90-100+ degree weather. Those poor actors never let it affect them as they danced on the stage every night. But, thanks to Tosha Maaks (lead on hair) none of those beehives fell :).

But, probably my biggest experience in theater this year is taking place right now. I am co-directing Twelve Angry Men. I've always loved this show and this is my first foray into directing adults, some of them directors themselves. It is a bit daunting but after rehearsal tonight (our first) I am so excited to see how it all comes together. Okay, I was excited before this, and a little nervous.

Have you ever directed before? Any tips you want to pass on? If not, what do you think of the show I chose for my debut into adult theatre?
On a side note, if you love the A&E Romance Classics, my friend, Jerrica Knight-Catania is giving away the entire DVD box set. Check out her blog for a chance to enter.
Since, we usually have a blog post five days a week, each taking our own turn. As a result, I let my own blog go (hanging head in shame). I even got away from reading blogs. Isn't it crazy how you can let one thing go for a few days amd the next thing you know it is shoved so far to the back burner that you can't even see it anymore? That is what happened with my blog and reading blogs.

Yesterday, I realized how out of touch I was with the blogs I loved to read when Jessica Nelson was a guest on LadyScribes. How did I miss her book being released this past spring and why hadn't I read it yet? You can read her blog at LadyScribes.

So new vow, to revisit all those blogs I used to love reading. I know, I know, I vowed that about five or more months ago, but I intend to keep it. I wonder what else I have missed.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-67637841861520074222012-02-11T15:35:00.000-06:002012-02-11T15:35:02.433-06:00Back in the GrooveOne of my New Year resolutions was to revisit blogs and blogging, beside LadyScribes where I am active. We won't mention that it is already February 11th and I am just now getting around to this (oops, I wasn't going to mention it). While I might not post, as I rarely have anything interesting to say, I will be reading.

When your plate is full, what to you get rid of, or put off? Writing, reading, Facebook, blogs, dinner with friends . . .? Is there a magic formula out there somewhere that allows an author to do it all, short of never sleeping?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-40469323671136851742011-10-15T16:28:00.000-05:002011-10-15T16:28:21.271-05:00Wow, Where Did the Time Go?I cannot believe I have not posted since March. When I had to put blogging on a back burner I never thought I would be away this long. I barely managed my every other week blog for LadyScribes.

A lot of things have happened that have been priority. Namely, my husband was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. That actually happened last fall but this spring was when decisions had to be made, etc. He had surgery a few weeks ago and is recovering well.

My mother no longer drives and her health has not been the best. So, I visit there and take her grocery shopping, to have her hair done etc. Oh, and she fell and broke her wrist this summer, but it has mended well.

What else? Oh yes, my son got his driver's license. Oddly, I find I am praying for him a lot more. :).

My daughter also moved from Illinois to Oregon to finish school. I miss her terribly, but I did have a chance to visit and love it out there. I can't wait to go back.

So, that was my summer. How was yours? I hope to catch up on all the blogs I've missed because I do miss reading them all.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-41717652191988859442011-03-06T08:20:00.003-06:002011-03-06T08:51:41.052-06:00Powerful Prayful Post 3/6/11It has been sometime since I posted a Powerful Prayful Post. I didn't stop praying (I could never do that). I just got away from posting.

I saw a really good movie last night that left an impact. Defiance. The movie was released in 2008, but I just discovered it.

"Jewish brothers in Nazi-occupied Eastern Europe escape into the Belarussian forests, where they join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and about 1,000 Jewish non-combatants." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1034303/.

The Bielski brothers could have escaped, made their way to safety somehow, or at the very least, not take anyone else with them so as not to risk discovery. Instead, they helped hundreds who would have faced unspeakable horror and most likely, death. According to Wikipedia, 1236 Jews survived because of these brothers.

Prior to the movie I had not heard for the Bielski brothers though I wish I would have. The world needs to hear about the unselfish heroes in our world, past and present. We need to learn of the goodness, especially when the news is filled with so many depressing things.

What heros do you know of who deserve more recognition, whether they want it or not?

In my prayers this week I am going to remember all of our soldiers, fighting for the freedoms we all enjoy and protecting us with their very lives.

How can I pray for you this week?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-64198080904550959782011-03-05T12:02:00.003-06:002011-03-05T12:09:11.149-06:00ContestWe all know there are all kinds of contests out there for writers. I tend to pay attention to those for the romance writer. After I establish it is a romance contest I look to see if they have an inspirational category, and most do. In fact, I was very happy with the last contest I entered :). Today I came across a new contest. This is for Christian fiction, and books published in 2010. I am sure that most of you know of someone who has published a Christian / Inspirational book in 2010 that you just loved. Here is a chance to nominate them. At least, that is what I understand from the rules.

Just thought I would pass it on. http://www.grace-awards.com/

But you should note, time is running out. I beleive the deadline is March 15th.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-25579520579768737272011-03-02T06:18:00.015-06:002011-03-02T06:31:31.473-06:00

My second inspirational historical romance was published this past weekend, The Healing Tree. It is the first in a trilogy and I couldn't be happier or more thrilled.

Lady Lilian Bliant appears to be a serene earl’s daughter, but under her exotic façade she has a spine of steel. She is determined to thwart her manipulative father’s plan to shackle her to a weak-willed man of the ton and is successful until Lord Maxwell Warrick becomes a suitor.

Lord Max is anything but weak-willed. He is happy with his life until Lady Lilian wreaks havoc on his heart. Despite her continued rejection, Max wants Lily to trust him, trust in his love, and have faith in the Lord.

With the Lord’s guidance, and through prayer, he begins to hope that one day their differences will be put aside and Lily will accept his faith as her own and Max as her husband.

This has been one of my favorite stories for a long time and it is exciting to see it in print, so to speak since it is only available in an e-format.

This was suppose to be the third book but the original second one is not out yet. Funny how things happen.

Have a great week!Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-60610642604920269312011-02-14T16:00:00.002-06:002011-02-14T16:00:55.823-06:00Love is TimelessWhat is your favorite love quote? For those who know me I am behind the scenes type of person. I write my novels from my laptop and prefer to remain in the background. The idea of promoting, in person, has always terrified me. It is the same with the theater. I love being at the theater, but I love being in the makeup room and never on stage. I've never known if it is shyness, awkardness, who knows. I just know that being up front and noticed has never been something I am comfortble with.

Well, as the title states, I stepped out of my Comfort Zone and appeared on a local show today, Good Company, and promoted my book, Loving Lydia. It was the Week of Love on Good Company and they had some wonderful segements for restaurants, jewelry, clothing, etc. And, they gave away one of my books each day this week, which I loved. Then it came time for me to be on the show. I think I must have lost five pounds (not a bad thing) from stressing over this.

Anyway, I thought I would share it on the blog today. My first blog for February (how sad is that). The Wizard of Oz will close on Sunday so I know I will have more time to blog after that. It has been a fun run, but exhausting. There were times I wasn't sure I would ever get the green out from under my fingernails - but the witch looked awesome. Add the silver from the tinman, browns from the scarecrow, pinks and sparkles for Glenda, and a rainbow of colors on the munchkins, the back of my hands and fingers made for some very interesting color combinations.

Anyway, I digress. Here is the segment of the show: Loving Lydia Segment on Good Company.

I am not sure if I will do something like this in the future, but I am glad it did this today. I think it is good to step out of your comfort zone on occasion, don't you? When is the last time you did and what was it ?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-6982110595373296982011-01-31T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-31T08:00:10.047-06:00Software for WritersToday I am blogging at www.ladyscribes.blogspot.com about the various software available for writers. Stop by and let me know your thoughts. I would especially love to hear from you if you use any of the programs available.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-2954245360949363372011-01-27T08:00:00.004-06:002011-01-27T08:00:15.059-06:00I'm Off to See the WizardIt is show time again. Well, I won't actually be on stage (that will never happen), but I will be doing makeup. If you can't tell by the title, the show is the Wizard of Oz. This is going to be a busy one, with a lot of changes. Thank goodness I have a team of about 6 other people. Thank you, ladies!!!!!!

This is also a challenge. Right now, I am trying to decide if I want to use a green cream or powder on the Wicked Witch. I hate to put her in the cream so many nights, but she needs to have the right look. In a lot of shows you can go with what the makeup chair thinks would look great and you aren't necessarily stuck with a specific look. Such is not the case with the Wizard of Oz. If I mess up, it won't only be the reviewer making note but a five-year-old will probably be calling me out as well.

All and all I can't wait to work more on this show. The cast is great and the director is wonderful. If you happen to be in Central Illinois at the beginning of February, make plans to see the well-loved family classic.

Now, to figure out what to do about the flying monkeys . . . And, will I ever get "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" out of my head?

Have you ever seen the Wizard of Oz on stage? Did you you enjoy it as much as the movie or did you like it better?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-18755476126674886952011-01-25T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-25T08:00:14.015-06:00Ruby Red SlippersOn Friday, the weekend didn't start off so great. I got ready to leave work and could not find my car keys. I emptied out the purse, check the coat pockets and looked underneath the desk. Finally, I decided to check my car. Yep, there they were. sitting on the front seat of my locked car. My poor husband had to leave work, run home for the spare set and bring them to me. He is such a sweetheart.

All I wanted to do was get home. I had a weekend planned of writing, editing and blogging but I was stuck cooling my heels. If I only had Dorothy's ruby red slippers I could just click them three times and be where I wanted to be. By the way, I am working on the Wizard of Oz right now which is probably why I thought of those shoes.

Then I had a thought, what if the ruby red slippers could take you anywhere you wanted to go, not just home. Given we were lucky to get to 6 degrees today, I would be clicking those babies until I was delivered to a warm tropical beach somewhere.

What about you? Lets pretend you can use the ruby red slippers for one day to take you anywhere you want to go, where would it be?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-59787152920664829862011-01-23T08:00:00.005-06:002011-01-23T08:00:05.940-06:00FocusDo you ever have too many balls in the air and not sure which one to catch and work on? I think that is where I am right now. My mind is split in several directions and I have only myself to blame. At the moment I am: Beta Reading a wonderful manuscript for one of my critique partners; Want to work on the two WIP's that I am at least 1/3 of the way through on both; and thinking about two separate theater projects.

Whew!

Oh, and I also need to get my edits back to my publisher so Pure is the Heart can be released in March, and think about the many ways I can market it. This is what I am most excited about and can't believe I didn't mention it first. And, I am not complaining. Everything listed is something I love to do. I just find I lack time. Really, how important is sleep?

Well, I am sure it will all work out they way it should. As long as I keep making room for prayer and worship all should be good, right?

What do you do when you find you have booked yourself for more hours than there are in the day?

And as this is Powerful Prayful Sunday, how can I pray for you this week. Prayer is something I am never too busy for.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-88332033472667478672011-01-20T08:00:00.002-06:002011-01-20T08:00:09.433-06:00Where to Begin?(Warning, this post tends to ramble, much like I do at times when trying to determine a direction)

I am about 38% of the way through my latest WIP. It is a sequel to a story I have been sending out and entering in contests. I originally started with a Prologue to give a little background. I then dumped that to start at a more exciting and action filled spot. However, now I find I am adding in backstory (more than I like, and probably readers as well).

So, now I am wondering if I acutally need to start the story earlier, at another exciting point to avoid all of the backstory. But, the delimma with this is I will have approximately two chapters in one year and the third chapter will start two years later. I am not sure I want to do that if readers would be bothered by it.

This is not unusual for me. However, I usually dump the first to third chapters because a lot of the time it takes me that long to get into the flow of the story and I realize I was only practicing and getting to know my characters for the first 20+ pages. This is the first time I've thought about actually starting earlier to add on instead of dumping.

Do you ever have the problem of starting your story at one point and then realize it needs to be started earlier or later, only to find yourself wondering if you should change it again? From a reader's perspective, how do you feel about stories that jump two years, as long as it is still a smooth transition?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-12412633421825120522011-01-17T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-17T08:00:10.934-06:00I Have a DragonI am blogging at www.ladyscribes.blogspot.com today about Dragon, thie voice-recognition software I got for Christmas. This time the snow began in the evening around 9:00 and continued through most of the night blanketing us with about 4 inches of snow. Not enough to call off school or work, but enough to make driving difficult since my neighborhood had not been plowed by the time I left for work.

Of course this little bit of snow didn't deter me. I've been an Illinois resident all of my life, minus the three and a half years that I lived in Arizona. So with bookts zipped a coat buttoned I stepped outside to warm up my car. All I can hear are the windshield wiper blades of the car next door. I start my car (hubby has already cleaned the snow off the windows because he is such a dear) and I go back inside to wait a few moments.

The time comes for me to get out of the drive and head to work. There is some slipping and slidding and fishtailing all of the way until I hit the main roads. And, more slipping and sliding on the snowpacked roads. However, before I get very far I need to stop for gas. As I stand at the pump and look out onto the highway, cars are backed up waiting for a light, bumper to bumper. There are about four other cars also getting gas. It is a typical morning. And then it hits me. I don't hear anything. Nothing. Nada. It is completely silent. All of that snow muffled the noise.

I've experience this stepping out into my own back yard after a snow fall and it is one of the most wonderful experiences. The new snow, the calmness in the air, the silence, the peace. I never expected to experience the same thing standing at a gas pump. It was a very pleasant way to start the day.

What is your favorite thing about new fallen show.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-61141499730440293422011-01-09T08:00:00.004-06:002011-01-09T08:00:07.022-06:00Paying it ForwardI saw a commercial for the movie Pay it Forward, which by the time this is posted, would have already aired. This is a movie that really moved me,and has stuck with me since seeing it. However, I am not sure I can watch it again. If you have seen it, you know why. If you haven’t, I believe it is worth watching, even if the language is on the strong side. Just don’t forget to have a box of tissue handy.

Not long after seeing the movie it was my turned to lead the Praise & Worship in my Christ Care Group training for the first time and I was very nervous. And, after recently seeing the advertisement I remembered I still had my notes from long ago and thought I would share them. Had I been leading a Christ Care Group, there would have been questions and topics of discussion as well. So, here was my first attempt ever.

September 22, 2005
Praise & Worship
“PAY IT FORWARD”

Song: The Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns.

Ask: Who has seen or heard of the movie Pay if Forward?

Recap: It is about a seventh grade boy who was given an extra credit assignment in his Social Studies class. Each student was to come up with one thing that they could do that might just change the world. This boy decided that he would do one thing for three people. The catch was, instead of those three paying him back, they were to do something for three other people. Those nine people were to then repeat the process. The math was presented in the movie and I can’t remember how many peoples live would be touched, but if it continued, the numbers would be astronomical. There were only two requirements regarding what they did for someone else: 1) it had to be something that person could not do for themselves and 2) it had to be Really big.

Worship: What a concept. Doing something for someone else that they could not do for themselves. And, that it has to be really big. I have seen references to the movie in the newspaper under the Acts of Kindness section. The authors who had been helped have been promising to pay it forward, as if this is a fresh, new idea perpetuated first by a book and then a movie.

But, something really big has already been done for us and, it is something that we could not do for ourselves.

Verse: Matthew 27:37 – Above his head they placed the written charge against him: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”

Verse: Matthew 27:40 – and saying, “you who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross if you are the Son of God.”

Verse: Luke 23:34 – Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”.

Verse: Luke 23:46 – Jesus called out in a loud voice. “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

Jesus did something really, really big, and something we could not possible do for ourselves. And, he did not limit it to three people. It was for EVERYONE.

Jesus also commanded that we pay it forward for Him.

Verse: Matthew 25:35-36, 40- For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me. . . (40) The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mind, you did for me.”

Verse: John 13:1316 – You call me Teacher and Lord and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Another example is The Good Samaritan, found in Luke 10:30-37

How clearer can it be? Jesus instructed the disciples, instructed us, to pay it forward. Not to walk on water, or try to slay a giant with a stone. Just to simply pay it forward. The movie is just a twist on what Jesus had been teaching all along.

Reflection: After seeing the movie and reflecting on what Jesus had done for me, I thought about how often I had paid it forward and, how often I had dropped the ball.

Music: If We are the Body by Casting Crowns.

Meditation: Close your eyes. Breathe deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Relax. Think of the time you have paid it forward.

Now, think of a time or times you have dropped the ball. It could have been when you were a child, too young to understand. It could have been when you were a teenage, when you were too embarrassed or insecure because of peer pressure. It could have been as an adult, because you were too busy, too shy, or just too something. Most of us can recall a moment when we failed. In your heart, acknowledge that moment and ask for the Lord’s forgiveness.

Dear Lord, because we are sinners, and often blind, we sometimes fail to reach out our arms, heal, teach or show love. Lord, please help us be more aware of the people you put in our path each and every day. Help us to recognize what needs we can meet that they cannot meet on their own. Let us always strive to pay it forward for you because you did pay much too high a price for us to pick and choose who we will help. Let us overcome our own failing so that we can pay it forward for YOU, at every opportunity you present us. Amen.

So, that was my first Praise & Worship, and if feels like it was so long ago.

One of the ways we can pay it forward is to pray for each other. How can I pray for you this week?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-16314959125222663892011-01-06T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-06T08:00:08.731-06:00One Word - Great IdeaI am sure most of you have come across at least one blog talking about OneWord 2011 - where you pick that one word that you are going to live by and learn from that year. Sadly, at the time I am writing this, a word has not been given to me. I don't believe it is something I need to think of and decide for myself. I believe it is a word that will be given to me by my maker and it will be the word He wants me to live by, work on and focus on for Him. I just need to have patience, pray and listen and I am sure it will be delivered to me shortly.

To learn more about this wonderful idea and concept you can visit these blogs, which are just a few, but they are the ones I came across within the last half hour.

Alece at Grit and Glory will be focusing on LOOK this year. And, if you want to find out what other words have been adopted, there are over 150 sites listed on this blog alone, of all the people participating. I think I am going to have to go and check them out. It is nice to share a common goal with someone, even if goes by a different name.

I did check out two blogs and in fact, Life's a Journey is the one that got me started on this quest this evening. Alicia's word of the year is STORY. Bina, at Bina's Pad will be living by the word BELIEVE.

What about you? Have you read the blogs and read the different words people are adopting for 2011? Do you have a word?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-43726939481022873632011-01-03T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-03T08:00:12.640-06:00Accomplishments and GoalsToday I am blogging a www.ladyscribes.blogspot.com. Stop by and tell me about your 2010 accomplishments and goals for 2011.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-43056031429036175752011-01-02T08:00:00.004-06:002011-01-02T08:00:03.287-06:00PeaceMy blog today is inspired by a question asked during Worship a few weeks ago. As I have mentioned in the past, my characters tend to be inspired and I frantically take notes that need to go into my current WIP, instead of focusing on the Word of God. But, the question that day made me think of something I experienced and my characters were no where to be found.

The question: What was the single most peaceful moment in your life? I knew the answer immediately.

The pastor then went to talk about the peace that comes after the storm. It can be any storm in our life. Whether it is a storm outside that frightens you, and some people have dealt with horrible ones from blizzards, hurricans, tornadoes and such. And sometimes, fierce winds, thunder and heavy rain can be scary enough. Then there are the storms in our life. Whether it be a financial crisis, health crisis, loss of someone, or anything that twists our emotions and nerves. Whatever our storm, when it passes we experience peace.

As I said early, I mentally answered before the pastor continued. You see, the single most peacefully moment in my life came in the middle of a crisis, or a storm so to speak. The circumstances were that my daughter had been struck by a car while visiting a friend. From the moment I was preparing to leave the house and while my husband and I drove to the hospital I was constantly praying. There was no eloquence to my prayers and certainly a large vocabulary wasn't needed. It went something like this "Oh, please, God, please let her be all right." That was pretty much it, over and over and over. At that point we did not know her condition, just that we needed to be there.

However, my peace came before I arrived at the hospital, as we came around the curve on the interstate just before our exit. I don't know if there are words to explain the sudden calm peace. It was if I was cloaked in peace. One moment I was praying frantically, panicked, and my heart pounded. The next moment I experience such complete and utter calm. Complete peace like I have never experienced in my life before or since. I knew that no matter what we discovered at the hospital, it would be okay. God was in charge and he would take care of all of our needs. And even as I looked down at her in the trauma room with IVs and monitors, the undescrible peace remained with me.

She was released from the hospital five days later to recover from her injuries and she is doing well today, with the exception of some aches and pains that revisit on occassion, especially damp weather like this.

That accident was several years ago and though I don't wish for a repeat in the circumstances, I would love to experience that incredible peace once again. It held me closed the entire time I stayed with my daughter in the hospital.

What was the single most peaceful moment in your life?

How can I pray for you this week?

May this new year bring you a Peace.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-84687782977697892892010-12-20T11:55:00.005-06:002010-12-20T12:04:30.194-06:00Yes, VirginiaMy last blog/article of the year has been posted and can be read at http://www.ladyscribes.blogspot.com/. It is about one of the best editorials ever written (at least in my opinion).

Have a Very Merry Blessed Christmas and a Great New Year.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-33070666028582106472010-12-10T17:53:00.002-06:002010-12-10T17:56:48.359-06:00So HappyI know I am staying away from my blog until after the first of the year, but I just had to share. My Inspirational Historical Romance - The Healing Tree, finished in 1st Place in the Inspirational Category of the Space Coast Authors Launching a Star Contest. Woo Hoo.

Okay, back to the holidays. I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful Christmas season and that your house is full of fun, laughter, love and the smell of cookies baking.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-64581587687741226042010-11-29T08:00:00.001-06:002010-11-29T08:00:09.918-06:00Signing off for the HolidaysNow that Thanksgiving has passed we are officially into the Christmas season. Or, at least I am. Though a lot of people will listen to Christmas music and put up decorations before Thanksgiving, I am a firm believer that none of this should take place until the day after.
So, this Friday, the music was dug out and the tree went up.

This season also means an end to my blogging days - temporarily. I will still blog on my days at LadyScribes but I am taking a break from here. December is always crazy busy with family and friends. Plus, I need to have my son at classes four nights until the end of December, Christmas shopping and frankly, enjoying the season. Instead of trying to figure out how I can accomplish the impossible, I have decided to take a break from blogging, thus take the pressure off of trying to be here (which I have failed miserably at in the last couple of weeks).

With the illnesses in my family and extended family, I've been reminded that time with family and friends is precious, especially during the holidays. So, I will be posting no blogs from here on out until after the first of the year. I will try to stop in and visit, read and comment on blogs, but for now, I am going to just enjoy family, friends and this wonderful season and celebrating Christ's birth.

Have a wonderful holiday and a Very Merry Blessed Christmas.Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8884411045598601037.post-68381860235536003962010-11-23T08:00:00.005-06:002010-11-23T08:00:08.239-06:00Social Networking - Part 5This is my continuation of looking at Social Networking and the various avenues available to us.

Yahoo Groups. I think they can be considered them Social Networking, depending on their purpose. I belong to about ten but in all honesty, I am a lurker. Rarely do I make a comment, but I try to read all of the messages. There I learn some industry gossip, who has a book coming out, who has finaled and/or won in a contest, what subject someone is blogging about in a particular place, online classes being offered, etc. These are almost as necessary to me as my critique group and blog following.

As far as commenting in a Yahoo Group, this is beyond my comfort level. So many of those who are posting comments seem to know each other and appear close. I sometimes feel like and intruder or stupid when I think about responding. I know, I am probably being silly, but this is another thing I need to work on. Maybe I will tackle it while I am preparing to be brave at the next conference.

How do you feel about Yahoo Groups? Do you belong to any? Do you lurk like me or a regular participant? Which ones do you recommend for an author, romance author, or someone who loves history?Amy DeTrempehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04785965181851533070noreply@blogger.com5
