Anyway, as I was checking out some new blogs I came across two who are "jointly hosting a French themed blogging experience running from the 1st - 31st July". And, they aren't the only two. Others have agreed to accept the challenge and post blogs about Paris during the month. I am going to try and participate also so I hope you want to hear about my travels to France or some interesting historical facts I've uncovered in my research.
And, if you are interested in Paris, of French fiction, movies, food, etc., you may want to check out their blogs: http://thyme-for-tea.blogspot.com/ or http://bookbath.blogspot.com/. I plan on checking in often during the month of July and those who are also posting blogs.
Maybe someone will visit England in August. I would have to say, my favorite city not visited of yet is London. Hopefully, if all things go as planned, that trip will happen in 2012.
What is your favorite City? Have you had a chance to visit other countries, absorbe the culture, history, food, etc. If you kept your travels to the States, which City would you like to go back to?
I love to travel, have lived in Bahia, Brazil in 1971-I know most of you weren't even born then, traveled to Scandinavia-Sweden, Denmark and Norway, Japan, Paris-France, Belgium, Rome and Venice Italy, Hungary and Germany. Fascinating world would like to see Australia and New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteWow, Lin. I am a bit envious that you have gotten to see so much of the world.
ReplyDeleteYou and Lin definitely have a leg up on my international travels! I've had the opportunity to visit Paris, France and Amsterdam. My favorite state in he US? I'd have to say, Hawaii. The island of Maui is absolutely breath-taking! Looking forward to reading about your travels to France. God bless!
ReplyDeleteMaria, I've never been to Hawaii, but someday (fingers crossed) I would love to go there. Everyone I know who has been there tell me is beautiful and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAmy, We're so excited that you'll be joining us for Paris in July. I'm really looking forward to discovering more about Paris through other people's eyes. Welcome!
ReplyDeleteWow! I wish I could see all those places! Paris is somewhere I'd LOVE to visit. Learning languages is somethign I adore so I'd want to practice there. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your posts!
I loved Paris, but I will never again go in August. Half of the shops, restaurants were closed! Next time I hope to try spring. The people, food, and places we experienced were all lovely :)
ReplyDeleteOther than my own wonderful country, I would say Madrid. The museums, galleries, the citywide flea market every Sunday. And, of course, the FOOD! Paella! And Flan! Ah yes, the food is wonderful and the people very friendly...
ReplyDeleteTamara, I am really looking forward to revising Paris through my notes and photos.
ReplyDeleteJessica, I am horrible at languages. I tried French, it didn't take. I tried German and failed. I think I am lucky to speak English, though the grammer can be questionable (thank heaven for crit groups). Both times I've gone has been as a chaparone. My sister is the French teacher (thus gifted with languages and speaks 4). I make her always give me the best students to chaparone so they can help me out.
Erin, the first time I went was in March. The second was in April. My middle child turned 18 there, which she thought was really cool. Can't say I blame her. April was perfect. Next year we are going in April as well. You need to plan an April or May trip. The weather would be prefect.
Linda, Madrid sounds interesting, but I've never been given the opportunity. Wow, citywide flea markes would be really interesting to experience. Of course the food is the draw anywhere, isn't it - lol.
Amy, Congratulations - you've just won a prize in the Paris in July celebration. Just email me soon with a postal address and the little surprise will be on it's way.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo, thanks Tamara. What a great thing to read on a Monday morning :).
