Paris

In preparation of Paris in July, I've been going through pictures, notes, books etc so my blogs can begin on July 1st. I am looking forward to reading what everyone else posts and more than ever, I can't wait to return to France.

Have you ever been? What is your favorite place?

  1. I've only been there once in 1964 on Bastille Day. I was touring with a folk dance group from my college BYU. We were only there for about 24 hrs and had so much fun riding the subway and watching all the mad lovers everywhere then walking to the top of the Eiffel tower was my favorite. Unfortunately many museums were closed. It's a fascinating place-take lots of photos and share.

  2. Wow, the real deal Paris? How cool is that!

I live in Paris, IL. We don't even have a Frech restaurant, but I love the country setting. Come visit sometime...

  3. Lin, that had to have been fun to be there on Bastille Day. You actually "walked" to the top. Goodness, you must have been in great shape. I didn't go up the first time (I have a small thing- okay not so small thing - with heights). But, on the second trip we were having dinner up there and I am a bit opposed to going hungry if not necessary, especially when the meal was already paid for an part of our week long tour :). Beautiful view.

  4. Jeanette,

I think you should open a French restaurant and sell your books there :). I don't think I've ever been to Paris, IL, but I have seen signs for it.

  5. You're going to Paris? Yay! I went there with my husband and daughter in 2001 for ten days. A good friend showed us around and then we were on our own the second half. I love the place and would LOVE to return someday:)

  6. I visited Paris and London back in 2006. I was very disappointed in Paris but loved London. I'm told I should visit France and go out into the countryside. I just remember Paris as a place with dog poop all over the sidewalks and extremely rude retail personnel who treated me like I was an annoyance. And we were in the touristy area!

  7. Terri, even though this is my third time visiting, I am sure it won't be enough. However, I do want to make it to London some day. Also, this trip we are taking the train south and will visit Monaco. I've never been there and really excited about it.

  8. Stephanie, I am so sorry you didn't like it and were treated poorly. Both times I have been there I've never met a rude person (with the exception of a few Americans, but that is another story). I don't remember dog poo either. Note to self, watch where I am walking next time.
